Elizabeth Balfour is a British-Norwegian soprano based in Oslo, Norway. 

 

A recent graduate of the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, Elizabeth made her debut as Susanna in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro at the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar, Germany, followed by a tour of Opera Galla concerts with the Thüringer Symphoniker Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, conducted by Oliver Weder.  

 

Recent concert performances include appearing as the soprano soloist in Faure's Requiem, Mozart's Laudate Dominum in Ålesund with conductor Tom Gontier, and Boulanger's Requiem.

Recent operatic performances include Adina in L'elisir d'amore for Opera til folket, and Adele in Die Fledermaus directed by Jacopo Spirei and conducted by Gregor Bühl.

​

During her studies at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, Elizabeth performed roles such as Morgana in Alcina with director Jacopo Spirei and conductor Fiona McSherry, Despina in Cosi fan tutte directed by Maria Drangeid, Erste dame in Die Zauberflöte directed by Sigve Bøe and conducted by Stefan Plewniak.  

In autumn 2019 Elizabeth performed Händel excerpts at the Drottningsholm Palace Theatre in Stockholm with conductor David Stern.

At the Oslo National Academy of Arts, Elizabeth studied with renowned Norwegian soprano Ann-Helen Moen. 

Prior to this, Elizabeth studied at the Norwegian National Academy of Music, with Mona Julsrud, Randi Stene and Bo Skovhus, and at the Royal College of Music in London with Welsh soprano Eiddwen Harrhy.

Elizabeth sang in the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet children's choir for 10 years. Performances at the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet include Erste Knabe in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Juliette in Britten's Let's make an Opera, Aninka in Krása's Brundibar, and Ping in Kverndokk's The World Around in 80 days.
